Just because the law says it is legal doesn’t necessarily mean that it is ethical. Would you view something as ethical if it was posted on social media? Could you defend it? In today’s political environment, public officials need to identify these ethical situations in order to maintain and regain the public’s trust. Curtis Brown, Urbandale Assistant City Manager, and Mark Jackson, Story City City Administrator, have teamed up for more than 10 years teaching at the Iowa Municipal Professionals Institute to help public officials identify ethical situations and better understand how to make ethical decisions.
