Description

Iowa's Councils of Governments were established by Executive Order No. 11 on February 19, 1968. This order created 16 multicounty regional areas to coordinate planning, economic development, & the delivery of state and federal programs across Iowa. A 17th COG was added in 2007. The Iowa Association of Councils of Governments, established in 1988, serves the 17 Councils of Governments to join across interest areas & to work on common issues. COGs help plan for the future, leverage state & federal funding, provide technical support, promote regional collaboration, & assist with disaster recovery
