Property Tax Information and Resources

Iowa’s property tax system is quite complex and has many different components that factor into calculations. To help our members gain a better understanding, we have developed several resources that explain the system and how it impacts city budgets. In addition, significant changes were made to the property tax system during the 2013 and 2019 legislative sessions that will affect cities now and in the future. The COVID-19 pandemic has also impacted city finance. The League has dedicated COVID-19 Resources & Finances pages.
