Training Offered Through IMAA

IMAA offers training specific to the municipal practice.

The primary training event is the Annual Seminar. In even-numbed years, IMAA offers a New City Attorney Institute the day preceding its Annual Seminar. After each legislative session concludes for the year, IMAA partners with the Iowa League of Cities to present a webinar covering new legislation impacting cities.

The Iowa Municipal Attorneys Association holds its Annual Continuing Legal Education Seminar on the Friday before Thanksgiving. The program normally provides six (6) hours toward the mandatory continuing education requirement under the Iowa Rule, including one hour (1) of credit devoted exclusively to the area of legal ethics.

IMAA Registration Fee Refund Policy
Registration fees will be refunded in full as to refund requests received 10 days or more prior to the event. Only 50 percent of the registration fee will be refunded as to refund requests received after that date, unless a full refund is approved by the IMAA in an emergency situation.​​​​​
