Redeveloping a downtown comes in many shapes and sizes. Bettendorf is undergoing a major transformation of its downtown due to the recent construction of the new Interstate 74 Bridge. On this tour, you will get an intimate look at some of the highlights of this revitalization. The tour will feature projects large and small, and will give you a first-hand look at how communities can engage in and support downtown redevelopment. Join Bettendorf’s Assistant City Administrator Jeff Reiter and the Downtown Bettendorf Organization’s Executive Director Ryan Jantzi as they discuss topics like how to create a Self-Supporting Municipal Improvement District (SSMID), adaptive re-use of blighted and existing vacant property, riverfront revitalization, and much more! From developing new office spaces to collaborative repurposing of retail buildings to multi-residential development, this workshop has many dynamic experiences! Bring your tennis shoes and your drinking shoes, as this workshop will also feature a couple of stops at some of Bettendorf’s most fun new establishments, such as Adventurous Brewing, the Bulldog Arms, and Riverside Grille.
