Communities do, and should, have control over many aspects of their local housing development. With inflation and interest rate hikes adding to existing affordability problems and lingering concerns about the quality of aging homes, municipal leaders are looking for answers about how, when and where to begin solving their community’s housing challenges. This session will explore the dynamics of local housing markets across the Midwest, review the tools in use to promote construction and affordability and foster some discussion among attendees about barriers to action.
