Small City Workshops
Each summer, the League hosts Small City Workshops across the state. The topics and information presented at these workshops are geared toward the specific needs of Iowa’s small cities, although anyone is welcome to attend.

This year, the Small City Workshop Series returns to in-person sessions! In order to facilitate networking and provide opportunities for attendees to take advantage of time with League staff, workshops will be held across the state. Three sessions will each cover a single topic so members have the option to attend workshops relevant to their community. For those interested in participating in all sessions in one sitting, a Saturday morning session will be offered as well.
League Communications staff will walk through practical strategies for small communities to maximize their resources to engage and inform residents. Join us to learn from panelist Ginger Wander, City Clerk of Elgin (pop. 685), as she shares examples, lessons learned, tips, and more.

Chapter 28E of the Iowa Code empowers local governments to share services, staff, equipment, and more. While these powers have been used at the local level for decades, there is a renewed urgency to consider new and expanded partnerships to provide services in an era of limited resources.
