Well-designed and placed landscapes using native plants are a low-maintenance way to provide habitat to birds, butterflies, and other wildlife while protecting stormwater infrastructure from soil erosion and other debris from entering the sewer. By combining local sources of native seeds on targeted priority areas, communities can build a network of these natural places that protect their infrastructure investment and improve neighborhood aesthetics.
